The Turpin family has been involved in the automotive industry for over 45 years. Gaytan Turpin, son of J. Fernand Turpin, worked at his father's Turpin Pontiac Buick GMC dealership in Ottawa. After his studies in automotive marketing and operations at both Northwood and the General Motors Institute, Gaytan purchased (August 1982) Laniel Autos Limitée, a family business serving the Hawkesbury community for over 60 years. Selling Pontiac, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products, and a commitment to customer satisfaction allowed the business to thrive. In September 1996, Turpin Autos expanded its base of operation to include the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile product lines and became the sole General Motors dealership in the community.
